AUMUS361 - Form, Analysis, and the Construction of Musical Meaning

Study of music through harmonic, contrapuntal and structural analysis of selected pieces from the Baroque to Romantic periods. Includes the examination of prominent musical features and harmonic devices within common small- and large-scale forms. Offers a critique of the applications and limitations of conventional musical analysis. Prerequisite: AUMUS 261.
