AUENG411 - Historiographic Metafiction

Examination of several postmodern literary texts that self-consciously question how past reality may be adequately known or represented. Such literature exposes the ideological assumptions underlying traditional portrayals of history, portrayals often accepted as natural, apolitical, and universal. In the process, this literature suggests the ways in which the supposedly separable categories of fiction and nonfiction may be seen to interpenetrate. Prerequisites: AUENG 103 and 104.
